Prove You Have What It Takes to Beat the Brussels Sprout Challenge
Join the high-spirited and healthy community fun at the Brussels Sprout Challenge! Hosted by the University of Alabama, this annual walking event aims to promote healthy lifestyle choices while complementing the American Heart Association’s mission to build healthier lives free of heart disease and stroke.
For the fourth straight year, UA’s College of Community Health Sciences will host the Brussels Sprout Challenge during the American Heart Association West Alabama Heart Walk on March 3rd, inviting all of Northport to take part in this fun and unique activity! To complete the Brussels Sprout Challenge, participants must eat one roasted Brussels sprout at each mile marker of a 3-mile walk, giving you a healthy treat to look forward to in each stage of the route. Plus, those who complete the challenge by eating all three Brussels sprouts will be awarded a T-shirt at the end of the walk!
The College and its University Medical Center partners with Manna Grocery and Deli in Tuscaloosa to roast and serve up brussels sprouts at the walk, so they’re guaranteed to be delicious! The College also provides handouts about the health benefits of brussels sprouts, which include heart health and cancer protection, as well as brussels sprout recipes. Beginning at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater and continuing along the downtown river walk, this route takes walkers on a beautiful scenic trek with enriching stops throughout the course. There’s no better way to spend your Saturday than by joining the group and participating in the Brussels Sprout Challenge!
Even though Presbyterian Apartments I & II in Northport, Alabama provides you with all of the comfort, convenience, and entertainment you could possibly desire, we encourage our residents to venture outside of our apartment community and explore all that the city has to offer!
